Taiwanese companies are planning an additional $20 billion in investments in the U.S. amid strong demand for AI applications and semiconductor products, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing Economy Minister Kung Ming-hsin.

Addressing the U.S. pavilion at the SEMICON trade show in Taipei, Kung said Taiwan's economy ministry had identified companies, excluding Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TPE:2330), d/b/a TSMC. However, the minister did not name companies or provide further details on the planned investments, according to the report.

A U.S. Commerce Department official welcomed the plans, saying they would support a secure and resilient semiconductor and electronics supply chain, the news agency said.
