0500 GMT - Data center investment is expected to keep rising as capital expenditure could reach $31.6 trillion through 2050, according to PwC's Global Data Centre Outlook 2026-50 report. The estimate largely relies on the speed and scale of artificial intelligence adoption, it says. However, global data center spending could approach a plausible upside of nearly $50 trillion, to support the growing demand for AI, the report adds. "Unlike past build cycles that front-loaded capital expenditures and tailed off as the network matured, this one resets every four to six years--and shows no signs of ending," it adds.
