Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk told G20 technology ministers Tuesday that AI data center growth requires more skilled labor and electricity, speaking virtually at a meeting of G20 technology ministers focused on the disruptions and opportunities brought by artificial intelligence, multiple outlets reported.
Meta (META) CEO Zuckerberg said the buildout would need "hundreds of thousands and maybe millions" of skilled trade jobs, citing a shortage of tradespeople, the reports said.
Tesla (TSLA) and SpaceX (SPCX) CEO Musk warned of a "crisis of power" in the AI buildout, saying a significant shortfall would hit "next year, not distant future," giving China an advantage, according to the reports.
Musk said AI could expand the global economy by 20-30%, or $20 trillion to $30 trillion annually. Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis said human-level AI would have ten times the impact of the Industrial Revolution and criticized EU tech regulation as making innovation "default illegal," the reports said.
