Algonquin Power & Utilities to Sell Chilean Water Utility Stake for $126.5 Million

Algonquin Power & Utilities (AQN) said late Friday it reached an agreement to sell its roughly 64% ownership stake in Chilean water utility Suralis for total proceeds of $126.5 million, plus an earnout of up to $1.5 million, to a fund managed by Toesca SA Administradora General de Fondos, a Chilean asset manager.
Proceeds will be used for debt paydown and to support capital recycling into Algonquin's $3.2 billion capital plan for 2026 to 2028, it said.
The deal is expected to close within the next two quarters, the company added.
