Malibu Boats Sets Higher Sales Target as Prices Increase

Malibu Boats expects revenue to rise again in the fiscal year ahead after higher prices and some volume gains drove up sales in the latest completed quarter.

The boat maker said Thursday that it is targeting $1.08 billion to $1.12 billion in sales for the fiscal year that started July 1, up from $914.6 million the year before. Analysts polled by FactSet are forecasting $1.09 billion.

For the fiscal fourth quarter ended June 30, Malibu Boats posted a profit of $7.4 million, or 37 cents a share, compared with $4.8 million, or 24 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier.

Stripping out one-time items, adjusted earnings were 92 cents a share, beating analyst projections for 78 cents a share.

Sales jumped 43% to $295.5 million, topping analyst estimates for $263.9 million.

The gain was primarily driven by $61.2 million in revenue from the company's new Saxdor segment following a recent acquisition, along with higher unit volumes in its Cobalt and Saltwater segments, a better mix of models across all three segments and higher prices. That all more than offset a drop in unit volumes from its Malibu business.

Shares rose 11% to $29.59 in premarket trading.
