Market Chatter: Wendy's Not Currently a 'Take-Private' Target for Trian Fund Management

Wendy's (WEN) shareholder Trian Fund Management currently has no plans to make a take-private bid for the fast-food chain, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Trian, which owns about 16% of Wendy's, has concerns about the company's performance, including its share price, valuation multiples and strategic direction, the sources said.

The investment firm, which was said to be a part of the rumored bid earlier this month, is keeping an open mind about its future intentions, the sources told Reuters.

A representative for Trian declined to comment, Reuters said. Wendy's didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from the news agency.

Trian and Wendy's did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
