SK Biopharmaceuticals (KRX:326030) said it has signed a deal to in-license the investigational epilepsy drug opakalim from Biohaven, using its commercial infrastructure to launch and sell its second innovative medicine directly in the U.S. market, according to a Wednesday release.

The South Korean drugmaker said it will launch the selective Kv7 potassium channel activator as early as 2029, subject to regulatory conditions, to become the only drug development company to directly market multiple innovative medicines globally.

The deal includes $400 million in cash upfront and up to $395 million in development and regulatory milestone payments, and it will also pay tiered royalties to Biohaven on U.S. net sales of opakalim.
