Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology detailed plans to launch a series of targeted initiatives designed to establish an advanced manufacturing sector as the cornerstone of the national economy, further propelling the country's ambitions in manufacturing and digital infrastructure.
During the previous five-year period, the manufacturing sector consistently accounted for approximately 25% of China's GDP. Significant progress was made in upgrading industrial capabilities, highlighted by the establishment of 504 state-of-the-art intelligent factories and a substantial increase in the share of output from national green factories, which rose from 9% to 22% of total manufacturing value.
Looking ahead, the focus will shift towards rejuvenating traditional industries through dedicated revitalization programs while simultaneously cultivating new pillar industries such as integrated circuits, aerospace, and biomedicine. By 2035, the goal is to foster around 100 demonstration parks and 1,000 leading enterprises dedicated to emerging sector growth. Furthermore, frontier technologies like quantum computing, brain-computer interfaces, and embodied intelligence are being positioned as key drivers of future economic expansion.
The artificial intelligence sector is currently experiencing remarkable dynamism, with over 70 high-capacity data transmission channels established around major computing hubs. AI applications have become integral across the entire industrial value chain, from R&D and design to production and quality control. Additionally, nearly 200 critical AI standards have been developed to guide the industry. To sustain this momentum, the Ministry will promote application scenarios in areas like "AI+", "robotics+", and the "industrial internet+", fostering continuous industrial iteration and upgrades.
A suite of policy measures targeting several key sectors is slated for release in the near term. These include a development plan for intelligent connected new energy vehicles and a blueprint for SME growth, both spanning the new five-year period. In the realm of information and communication technology, significant priority is being placed on 6G research and development. The ministry intends to accelerate core technology breakthroughs, experimental trials, and standards formulation to pave the way for the commercial deployment of next-generation connectivity.
