Jefferies has kicked off its coverage of USA Rare Earth (USAR.US) with a "Buy" rating and a price target of $21 per share. The firm projects that long-term demand for rare earth elements will remain robust and accelerate, driven by the integration of Serra Verde and the expansion of the Round Top project, which are expected to transform the company into a fully integrated battery producer.
Analysts, led by Lawrence Alexander, believe USA Rare Earth is constructing a vertically integrated, China-independent supply chain platform for rare earth elements and permanent magnets. This "mine-to-magnet" operation spans mining, processing, metal refining, and magnet manufacturing. Alexander highlighted that the company’s near-term focus is to ramp up annual magnet production at its Stillwater, Oklahoma facility to approximately 1,200 tons by early 2027, followed by the integration of Serra Verde—currently the only ion-adsorption clay rare earth producer outside of Asia and the sole entity beyond the region capable of commercially producing all four key rare earth magnet inputs.
Jefferies initiated coverage on multiple advanced materials and energy efficiency solution companies, noting that growth in electrification, artificial intelligence, and defense and aerospace investments is creating inelastic demand while simultaneously leading to supply bottlenecks in critical minerals. Alexander set new "Buy" ratings on Almonty Industries (ALM.US), Element Solutions (ESI.US), IperionX (IPX.US), and Materion (MTRN.US), while assigning "Hold" ratings to Fireweed Metals (FWEDF.US), NioCorp Developments (NB.US), and Standard Lithium (SLI.US).
