Citi (C.US) has unveiled plans to boost its corporate banking workforce across North Asia and Japan by approximately 25%, alongside the introduction of dedicated bankers at six new global locations.
The new investment will be channeled into South America, Europe, and select parts of Asia, aiming to support corporate clients headquartered in Japan, South Korea, mainland China, and Taiwan. Additionally, Citi is broadening its dedicated China business unit network and has added new operational hubs in Brazil and Europe.
Earlier in 2026, Citi established a new Korea business unit in Chicago, USA. These units are designed to facilitate multinational corporations' overseas expansion by offering a suite of banking, market, and service products, including financing, foreign exchange and hedging, payments, cash management, and trade finance.
JianXun Toh, Head of Corporate Banking for Citi's JANA (Japan, North Asia, and Australia) region, attributed the move to robust client growth observed across multiple corridors linking North Asia and Japan with global markets. "These investments reflect our commitment to clients, and we will continue to increase investment to support their growth and expansion," he said.
