Countdown to the Next Domestic Fuel Price Adjustment: Market Forecasts Point to an Increase

Deep News
Aug 28

With the next adjustment window for domestic refined oil products set to open at 24:00 on August 28th, market analysts are anticipating a rise in fuel prices this cycle. Industry forecasts suggest that the upcoming change will see an increase, marking a shift from the previous adjustment period.

During the current pricing cycle, which spans from 24:00 on August 14th to 24:00 on August 28th, international crude oil prices have exhibited a pattern of initial gains followed by declines. Despite this volatility, the rate of change for crude oil has remained consistently in positive territory, according to analysts at Zhuochuang Information. This persistent positive movement indicates that the retail price adjustment for domestic refined oil products is likely to trigger an upward revision at the end of the period.

Supporting this outlook, an oil product analyst at Jinlianchuang has expressed confidence that the increase in domestic gasoline and diesel retail prices is a foregone conclusion. This sentiment aligns with data from the Zhuochuang Information monitoring model, which shows that as of the close of foreign markets on August 26th, the reference crude oil change rate for the ninth working day stood at 8.18%. The model projects that gasoline and diesel prices will rise by 360 yuan per tonne, translating to an estimated increase of 0.28 yuan per liter for 92-octane gasoline, 0.30 yuan per liter for 95-octane gasoline, and 0.31 yuan per liter for 0-diesel fuel.
