Inner Mongolia has been making steady progress in applying low-altitude economy technologies to forest and grassland pest management, according to the regional forestry and grassland authorities. Since the beginning of 2026, the regional station for forest and grassland pest control and quarantine has organized relevant leagues and cities to promote these applications. To date, the region has completed drone-based monitoring of pine wilt disease across 353,000 mu of pine forests, while aircraft-based biological pest control has covered 21.4051 million mu of forest and grassland areas.
These drone operations are helping safeguard the healthy growth of forest and grassland resources. In April 2026, the regional station held its first CAAC drone pilot certification training session, with 46 grassroots technical professionals participating and a pass rate of nearly 80 percent. The training adopted an integrated teaching model combining theoretical instruction, practical operation, and performance assessment, covering essential topics such as drone flight principles, flight safety regulations, route planning, and hands-on flight practice.
For pine wilt disease monitoring, the region has actively promoted the use of drones in both spring and autumn surveys, effectively resolving the challenge of monitoring areas inaccessible by ground teams. In the control of forest and grassland pests, particularly grassland locusts, Inner Mongolia has continued to refine its application methods by combining aircraft, drones, and a range of large, medium, and small control equipment. So far, the region has deployed 2,291 aircraft sorties and 164,221 drone sorties, completing aerial pest control over 1.4535 million mu of forested land and 19.9516 million mu of grassland, effectively curbing the damage caused by locusts and other harmful organisms.
