HKEX Reports Strong Debut Month for Five-Year China Treasury Bond Futures

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has announced that its five-year China Treasury bond futures product, which launched on August 3rd, has drawn significant market attention, with both trading activity and participant engagement steadily improving during its first month.

The average daily trading volume for the contract reached 1,727 lots in the initial month. Open interest also grew consistently, rising from 991 lots on the first trading day to 2,582 lots by the end of August.

The new product has attracted participation from over 40 market players, including asset management firms, banks, securities companies, hedge funds, and proprietary trading houses. Bid-ask spreads remained tight throughout August, indicating healthy market liquidity.

HKEX stated it will continue to broaden its diversified product ecosystem to support investors' risk management needs and further enhance the attractiveness of Chinese assets to international investors.
