The 62-day summer travel period concluded successfully on August 31, marking a significant milestone for Zhuhai Airport. During this peak season from July 1 to August 31, the airport handled 17,200 aircraft movements and welcomed 2.492 million passengers, representing year-on-year growth of 1.3% and 1.4% respectively, setting a new historical record for summer passenger throughput.
Expanded Route Network Meets Diverse Travel Demands
To accommodate the surge in summer tourism, family visits, and study-related travel, the airport has continuously optimized its route network and coordinated with airlines to increase capacity. Two new non-stop routes to Urumqi and Changzhi were launched during the summer period, while popular tourist destinations including Xining, Yinchuan, Xishuangbanna, and Yuncheng were restored to the network, further enriching the airport's flight offerings. Additionally, flight frequencies on key domestic hub routes and popular tourist city connections were significantly increased. Services to Beijing now reach up to 17 daily flights, Shanghai up to 13, while cities such as Chengdu, Xi'an, Hangzhou, and Haikou all enjoy more than 10 daily departures.
Enhanced Services Elevate Passenger Experience
Throughout the summer, the airport has deepened its commitment to quality service by refining the entire passenger journey, from ground transportation connections and wayfinding assistance to baggage handling. Special attention has been given to first-time flyers, elderly passengers, and unaccompanied minors through tailor-made care services. During the period, the airport facilitated 2,778 unaccompanied children, provided guidance to 857 elderly passengers, and assisted 776 passengers requiring wheelchair services. The "Easy Security Check" program was also widely promoted, significantly reducing screening times and improving flow efficiency. Additional mobile service staff were deployed throughout the terminal to offer comprehensive assistance, from information inquiries to problem resolution, enhancing overall convenience and comfort for travelers.
Innovative Activities Enrich Pre-Flight Experience
To elevate the waiting experience and stimulate aviation-related tourism consumption, the airport leveraged its official social media platforms, mainstream media channels, and radio and television broadcasts to deliver real-time flight information, travel tips, and boarding pass privileges. A special summer campaign titled "Happy Flying, Enjoy Summer" was launched, featuring family-friendly benefits, discounts on food and souvenir purchases across the terminal, complimentary limited-edition seed souvenir cards, and bank card exclusive spending promotions. These diverse offerings and immersive interactive experiences allowed passengers to discover pleasant surprises during their waiting time and experience the warmth of the airport. Throughout this demanding summer period, the airport successfully managed the passenger flow challenges with robust safety protocols and dedicated service excellence. Looking ahead, the airport remains committed to upholding safety standards, continuously optimizing its route structure, and refining service quality to deliver secure, comfortable, and heartwarming air travel experiences for all passengers.
