Walking through the land of Jianghuai, a new chapter in industrial development is unfolding, with Anhui having deeply integrated modern industrial systems and future industry cultivation projects into its strategic plans.

At the Shenzhen Space Exploration Laboratory in Hefei's Zhongan Chuanggu, a silver device stands out—a lunar water ice extraction system designed to "harvest water" from the Moon. Laboratory Party Secretary Hu Chaobin explained that this machine uses two spiral drill bits to penetrate ice-bearing lunar soil, heating it to produce gaseous water, which is then condensed into collectible water ice at a rate of 10-50 grams per hour. This development has bridged the "last mile" in lunar water resource utilization, laying the groundwork for deep-space resource use.

At the China Telecom Quantum Group exhibition hall in Hefei High-tech Zone, two products integrating quantum technology are drawing attention. A phone embedded with a quantum SIM card generates a unique quantum key for every call, enhancing communication security. Meanwhile, a quantum cloud seal with real-time tracking capabilities—dubbed the "watchful seal"—allows administrators to monitor where and what it stamps, all in the background. Hefei stands as a key birthplace of quantum technology and serves as the headquarters of China Telecom Quantum. In recent years, the industrialization of key quantum technologies, such as quantum communication and quantum computing, has accelerated significantly.

"We have integrated quantum security technology into our core business and launched multiple tech products," stated the group's head. In the Zhongan Chuanggu Science and Technology Park, where China Telecom Quantum is based, 13 quantum enterprises operate side by side. Nearby, the "Quantum Avenue" hosts over 30 leading quantum technology companies, covering the entire spectrum of quantum computing, communication, and measurement. From fundamental research to industrialization, a complete quantum technology ecosystem has taken shape.

At the intersection of Zhongjiang Avenue and Chizhu Road in Wuhu City, traffic flows steadily as a special "traffic officer" stands in the middle of the road, using mechanical arms to deliver precise directing gestures—straight ahead, left turn, stop—coordinating with human officers to manage basic traffic control and flow. This is the intelligent policing robot developed by Moja Robotics, a subsidiary of Chery Group, which has deployed over 110 units across more than 30 cities in China since the first half of this year. "Leveraging Chery Group's strengths in manufacturing, supply chain, and global channels, Moja Robotics has delivered over 2,000 units worldwide, with products operational in more than 60 countries and regions, covering automotive marketing services, smart policing, and medical guidance," said Zhang Guibing, Executive Vice President of Chery Automobile and General Manager of Moja Robotics.

Since being designated as China's first national-level pilot zone for robotics industry clustering in 2013, Wuhu has nurtured leading robotics enterprises like Efort and Moja from the Chery automotive supply chain as its "parent body," establishing a complete ecosystem—from components to full machine manufacturing to system integration and scenario application. The city now hosts over 300 upstream and downstream companies, driving an industry scale of 40 billion yuan.

Behind the rapid growth of the robotics industry lies robust support from infrastructure like computing power. "We provide high-efficiency computing support for robot training, AI algorithm iteration, and massive data processing, accelerating embodied intelligence into the fast lane of large-scale commercial deployment," said Hu Rong, Chairman of Wuhu Big Data Construction and Investment Operations Co., Ltd. As a key hub in the Yangtze River Delta for the "East Data, West Computing" project, Wuhu has accelerated its computing infrastructure build-out. As of July this year, the city had completed 224,700 standard racks, with intelligent computing power reaching 640,000 P (1P equals approximately 1,000 trillion calculations per second)—equivalent to the combined processing capability of about 32 million high-performance computers.

In Lu'an City, located in western Anhui, institutional innovation is driving high-quality development across the entire hydrogen energy supply chain. Hydrogen production and refueling now sit just a wall apart. In the Tomorrow Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park, hydrogen generated from solar power is piped directly to the adjacent refueling station, drastically simplifying the costly storage and transport process. In 2024, Lu'an introduced policies clarifying that integrated hydrogen production and refueling stations can operate outside chemical industrial parks, provided they meet safety production conditions. "Previously, such integrated stations were only permitted within chemical parks, keeping hydrogen sources far from key application scenarios like urban transportation," noted Wang Chaoyun, Chairman of Tomorrow Hydrogen. He believes that since hydrogen storage and transport costs account for a high proportion of terminal prices, this policy helps reduce delivery costs, opening new space for industry growth.

Future industries, including general-purpose artificial intelligence, low-altitude economy, brain-computer interfaces, stem cells, and chips, are being developed across cities like Hefei, Wuhu, Bengbu, Huainan, and Chizhou, each tailoring initiatives to local conditions and fostering tiered, coordinated growth. To date, the first batch of 10 provincial-level future industry pilot zones in Anhui has achieved a combined full-industry-chain scale exceeding 93 billion yuan. With strengthening upstream and downstream collaboration in sectors such as general intelligence and embodied intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, biomanufacturing, 6G, and hydrogen energy, and with continuous aggregation of innovation resources, Anhui's future industries are taking root, taking shape, and building momentum.
