At a media briefing on August 28, China Construction Bank (CCB) unveiled its 2026 interim results, with Vice President Ji Zhihong announcing an increased interim dividend payout ratio of 31%. Ji underscored the bank's dedication to investor interests, emphasizing a policy of consistent and sustainable dividends as a key component of its shareholder value proposition.

Since its public listing, CCB has distributed cumulative dividends surpassing 1.4 trillion yuan, with annual payouts exceeding 100 billion yuan in each of the last three years. The decision to elevate the interim dividend ratio to 31% for 2026 is aimed at enhancing investor returns, a move Ji described as a deliberate choice made after careful consideration of the bank's fundamentals, shareholder remuneration, and long-term business strategy.

"The higher payout ratio serves to reward our investors while ensuring we retain sufficient internal capital to sustain long-term business growth," Ji explained. He confirmed that the dividend arrangement will be executed formally following approval at the shareholders' meeting.

Looking ahead, Ji emphasized that CCB will continue its prudent and stable capital management approach. The bank plans to maintain a reasonable dividend ratio, strengthen its capacity for internal capital generation through multiple measures, and orderly arrange capital instrument issuances. This strategy aims to keep both the capital adequacy ratio and return on capital at optimal levels, thereby creating greater long-term value for shareholders through robust operational performance.
