A woman from Xi'an, living in Hangzhou with her parents, has publicly shared a heartfelt story of gratitude towards Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and one of its employees. The woman, identified as Ms. Zhou, expressed her deep appreciation in a recent social media post, detailing how the staff member's kindness and sense of duty provided immense comfort during a moment of profound family crisis.
The ordeal began on the evening of August 13th, when Ms. Zhou and her parents received the devastating news that a close relative had passed away. The family urgently needed to catch the last flight back to Xi'an to handle the funeral arrangements. Rushing to the airport with hastily packed bags, their hope of boarding the final departure was shattered. Overcome with grief and anxiety, Ms. Zhou's parents were unable to complete the mobile check-in process in time, which barred them from passing through security.
As the family stood helpless and distraught, Wang Jin, an安检员 on duty at the security checkpoint's guidance post, noticed their obvious distress. He immediately approached to offer assistance and, upon learning of their situation, sprang into action. Wang Jin made several trips back and forth to the check-in counters to negotiate on their behalf. He then guided Ms. Zhou to the nearest security lane, coordinating with his colleagues to allow her priority passage. Despite their best efforts, the boarding gate had already closed, and they were unable to catch the flight.
According to Wang Jin, it was very late by then, and most airport staff had already left for the day. Rebooking the flight had to be done over the phone with the airline, which proved to be a complicated process. Wang Jin stayed with the family throughout, making call after call to confirm the details until they finally secured seats on the earliest available flight, scheduled to depart at 6:00 AM the next morning and land just after 8:00 AM. Not stopping there, he then escorted the family to a nearby hotel, carefully advising them on the check-in time and essential precautions for the following day.
Having been on the night shift, Wang Jin only finished his official duties at 3:00 AM. But his concern for the family was not assuaged. “I was still worried, so I decided to forgo my rest,” he recounted. At 5:00 AM the next morning, he returned to accompany the Zhou family back to the terminal, seeing them safely into the security area before he left with peace of mind. During the escort, he offered not just guidance but also constant words of comfort.
Wang Jin explained that his empathy was rooted in a deeply personal experience. Last March, his own grandmother passed away while he was away from home. “I didn't get to see her for the last time, and that remains a profound regret. So in that moment, I felt their pain as if it were my own, and I was determined to do everything I could to help,” he said. He humbly dismissed his actions as a small deed, insisting that any frontline colleague at the airport would have gone to the same lengths to help. “We want everyone who comes to Hangzhou to feel the warmth of the city and the airport. We hope to exchange sincerity with sincerity and offer a little more heartfelt human care to all who pass through our doors,” he added.
Ms. Zhou's family, having successfully made their flight and tended to their urgent affairs, were left with a lasting impression of the kindness shown to them in their time of need. She concluded her online tribute by highlighting that Wang Jin's empathy, patience, and sense of responsibility were a great source of comfort and strength for her family during such a difficult period.
