At the 2026 interim results conference held on August 31, CM Bank’s newly appointed president, Wang Xiaoqing, candidly shared his personal feelings upon taking office. He noted that since joining the bank at the end of April, his foremost sentiment has been the profound weight of responsibility that comes with the role.
Wang elaborated on the three key areas that underscore this sense of duty. Firstly, he emphasized that CM Bank, as a state-owned financial institution managing over 13 trillion yuan in assets, carries a critical mission of national importance. Secondly, he acknowledged that the bank's trajectory is intimately tied to the collective aspirations of its 120,000 employees, and that the leadership must build upon the strong operational legacy left by predecessors to achieve even higher-quality development. Thirdly, he expressed a deep commitment to not betraying the trust and recognition that capital markets and investors have historically shown towards the bank.
Concluding his remarks, Wang recalled a poignant comment from an individual investor at the June shareholder meeting: “No one’s investment capital comes easily.” He reiterated that by excelling in its own operations, CM Bank can strengthen its development foundation and performance, thereby ensuring investors receive appropriate long-term returns that justify their trust.
