A dedicated bonded warehouse facility has officially commenced operations at the Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone, marking a strategic step to streamline cross-border trade with Russia. The newly launched Changda Suyi bonded warehouse, which began operations on August 31st, is designed to establish a fast logistics corridor directly connecting Sichuan Province with Russia, significantly enhancing the efficiency of cross-border supply chains between the two nations.
Operated by Sichuan Changda Suyi International Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., the facility encompasses the entire 15,100-square-metre Warehouse No. 1 within the bonded zone. Leveraging the unique advantages of the integrated port-zone model, the warehouse is tailored to address the specific needs of China-Russia cross-border commerce and e-commerce. It offers a comprehensive suite of one-stop services, including cargo consolidation, sortation, packaging, labelling, and export customs declaration, providing efficient and reliable supply chain solutions for export-oriented businesses.
This launch comes amid deepening economic cooperation between China and Russia, with bilateral trade volumes having remained above the $200 billion mark for three consecutive years. In the first half of 2026, trade between the two countries reached $134.175 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25.6 per cent. Simultaneously, Sichuan's trade with Russia has maintained rapid growth, supported by a large number of manufacturing enterprises and e-commerce sellers from the Sichuan-Chongqing region expanding into the Russian market, resulting in a continuously expanding supply base.
The operation of the Changda Suyi bonded warehouse is expected to effectively address the logistics shortcomings for trade with Russia in the southwestern region of China. It aims to facilitate the easier export of local products to the Russian market and accelerate the formation of a specialised logistics cluster dedicated to China-Russia trade in the area. As Sichuan's first airport-type comprehensive bonded zone, the Tianfu Comprehensive Bonded Zone officially commenced full operations on February 27th of this year. To date, it has developed approximately 50,000 square metres of public bonded warehousing and an 18,000-square-metre administration building, complete with amenities such as dormitories and a canteen. Plans are also in place for a cold-chain logistics centre designed to meet the specialised storage requirements for high-end food products and pharmaceuticals.
Currently, the Tianfu Comprehensive Bonded Zone is actively advancing 19 key projects and has registered 10 companies, focusing on expanding into sectors such as bonded warehousing, international trade, and cross-border e-commerce. According to officials at the zone, this warehouse inauguration will serve as a catalyst for deepening supply chain collaboration in China-Russia e-commerce and attracting a greater number of quality enterprises. Furthermore, the zone intends to leverage the robust cargo collection capabilities of the nearby Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, integrating freight resources from across the Chongqing-Sichuan region to bolster the province's ambition of becoming a key strategic hub for inland economic development.
