ICBC President Liu Jun: Confident in Sustaining Long-Term Value for Shareholders Across Market Cycles

At the 2026 interim results conference held on August 28, ICBC President Liu Jun addressed the net interest margin issue, noting that recent data reveals a marginal stabilizing trend. He attributed this to more favorable liability costs and an optimized liability structure, rather than merely repricing effects.

Leveraging its scale, distribution channels, and robust customer base, the large bank can more effectively balance volume, pricing, and risk. However, Liu acknowledged that as existing time deposits mature and the spread between new and old products narrows, the supportive impact of repricing dividends on the margin will gradually diminish.

In response, the bank will continue to strengthen proactive management of both assets and liabilities, focusing on structural optimization and tapping into liability cost-reduction potential to solidify a stable information gap. Looking ahead, ICBC management remains confident in forging long-term, cycle-transcending value for shareholders and investors.
