Pudong's Embodied Intelligence Sector Shifts Gears: From Competition Victories to Full-Scale Industrial Deployment

Pudong's embodied intelligence industry is accelerating mass production and delivery, transforming humanoid robots into multi-scenario workers. This shift converts athletic competition technology into tangible industrial productivity.

At the second World Humanoid Robot Games, which concluded on the evening of August 26, the Zhiyuan Robot team from Pudong claimed the top spot on both the gold medal table and the overall medal count, securing 18 gold, 16 silver, and 12 bronze medals for a total of 46. Notably, the models that competed—including the Jingling G2, Yuanzheng A3, Lingxi X2, and the OmniHand dexterous hand—were all standard mass-produced versions, with no special modifications made for the event. This underscores the ability of Pudong's local AI enterprises to channel cutting-edge technology into the industrial frontline, demonstrating that they can win gold in the arena while also handling factory assembly line tasks.

From an industry development perspective, the strong showing at the competition is no accident. It is the natural result of Pudong's sustained efforts to cultivate the embodied intelligence sector and push technologies from research and development toward real-world application.

Yao Maoqing, co-founder and co-president of Zhiyuan, noted on August 27 that the company's proprietary "Three Intelligences in One" architecture integrates motion intelligence, interaction intelligence, and operational intelligence. This system, paired with highly reliable and cost-effective robot hardware, breaks the industry's long-standing dilemma of humanoid robots that can perform but cannot work, enabling hard-earned competitive capabilities to translate into precise industrial operations.

The maturation of the technology architecture has directly propelled products from competition arenas to production lines. Zhiyuan's humanoid robots have already been deployed on multiple intelligent manufacturing lines. At Longqi Technology's Nanchang plant, the Jingling G2 humanoid robot has been fully integrated into a 3C tablet quality inspection line, operating reliably for extended periods. It handles complete workflows including tablet retrieval and loading, multi-item quality inspection, and finished product sorting, working alongside human workers. After multiple rounds of long-cycle public verification, the robot has completed tens of thousands of product operations, adapting to real factory production rhythms and earning its place as a genuine "robot workmate" on the line.

Zhiyuan is not alone. Pudong's comprehensive innovation and manufacturing ecosystem continues to attract and nurture a wave of local humanoid robot companies focused on industrial adoption, moving them from "showcase mode" into "production mode."

"We are not building a work of art, but designing a product that can be manufactured efficiently," said Zhang Haixing, CEO of Matrix Ultra, who announced in Zhangjiang that the company's MATRIX-3 flagship humanoid robot is now available for global sale. Zhang explained that the decision to establish a modern humanoid robot production line in Zhangjiang was driven by Pudong's complete high-end manufacturing base and its top-tier AI research ecosystem. "This unique geographical advantage enables seamless synergy between R&D iteration and production, forming the core engineering advantage of domestically produced humanoid robots on the global stage," Zhang added.

Pudong's embodied intelligence industry has now moved beyond prototype stages, accelerating from technical demonstrations to mass delivery and multi-scenario deployment. Local companies have developed a distinctive model: competitions serve as stress tests, while factories provide real-world validation—with R&D iteration, production line construction, and scenario expansion advancing in parallel.

Kepler Robotics, focusing on embodied intelligence brains and force-tactile perception, continues to conduct real-world validation in manufacturing and logistics facilities. Fourier Intelligence is deepening its presence in the rehabilitation and elderly care sector, promoting routine application of humanoid robots in medical settings. Supporting companies across the supply chain are also accelerating their real-world penetration, with an increasingly mature industrial tier of complete machines, core components, and large models developing in coordination.

Industrial platforms are also clearing the path for enterprise growth. Leveraging the Zhangjiang Robot Valley, the National and Local Co-built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, and Shanghai's Humanoid Robot Pilot Testing Service Platform, Pudong has established a full chain spanning "R&D—pilot testing—mass production—deployment." These platforms offer trial manufacturing, complete machine testing, and scenario validation services to the industry, addressing the bottlenecks of "good-looking prototypes, difficult mass production, and slow deployment."

Meanwhile, Pudong is proactively opening up real application scenarios across industrial manufacturing, healthcare and rehabilitation, cultural tourism services, and emergency response, allowing technologies to iterate and optimize under real operating conditions. The district is also advancing national standard development and pilot testing insurance mechanisms to solidify the institutional foundation for the commercial rollout of humanoid robots.
