CAI Corp Flags HK$61 Million First-Half Loss on Market-Driven Fair Value Hit

CAI Corp announced a profit warning, projecting a loss attributable to owners of approximately HK$61.00 million for the six months ended 30 June 2026, sharply wider than the HK$4.30 million loss recorded a year earlier.

The deterioration stems mainly from substantial net fair-value losses on financial assets measured at fair value through profit or loss—predominantly listed equity securities. Following the completion of a rights issue in November 2025, CAI Corp’s listed-securities portfolio expanded to roughly HK$130.00 million as at 30 June 2026, compared with just HK$0.01 million a year earlier. Over the same period, the Hang Seng Index and Hang Seng Tech Index fell 10.70% and 18.90%, respectively, driving material unrealised losses in the portfolio.

Management stressed that these fair-value adjustments are non-cash in nature and therefore do not immediately impact operating cash flows. The Group has “maintained a sufficient cash position” and is pursuing additional funding through a proposed share issuance to controlling shareholder Longling Capital Ltd., approved by independent shareholders on 6 August 2026.

The interim results for the first half of 2026 are scheduled for release on 18 August 2026. Shareholders and potential investors are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the Company’s securities.
