Yuan Midpoint Rate Inches Higher Against Dollar at 6.7809

The central parity rate of the Chinese yuan against the US dollar was set at 6.7809 on September 1, marking an upward adjustment of 19 basis points from the previous fix. This adjustment reflects ongoing dynamics in the global currency market.

According to the CME Group's FedWatch tool, market expectations for the Federal Reserve's September policy meeting show a 65.4% probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike. Meanwhile, the likelihood of the Fed holding interest rates steady stands at 34.6%.

Looking further ahead, the FedWatch data indicates that for the October meeting, the probability of rates remaining unchanged is 25.4%. At the same time, the chance of a cumulative 25-basis-point hike is 57.2%, while the probability of a cumulative 50-basis-point increase is 17.4%.
