On September 1st, the Hubei Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology published a draft action plan on its official website, outlining a roadmap for the province's commercial hydrogen energy scale-up between 2026 and 2030.
The proposal sets a bold target of surpassing the 100 billion yuan mark for the province's hydrogen industry scale by 2030. It also aims to deploy 7,000 hydrogen-powered vehicles and produce 30,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually from renewable sources.
Under the plan, Hubei intends to achieve comprehensive hydrogen refueling network coverage. A key objective is reducing the average market price of hydrogen for end users in major cities to around 25 yuan per kilogram, thereby creating a viable commercial loop and establishing a self-sufficient, collaborative, and economically efficient innovation ecosystem for the hydrogen sector.
