Jilin Airport Group reported on Tuesday that during the 2026 summer travel season, it handled a total of 27,000 flights and 4.055 million passenger movements, marking year-on-year increases of 3.2% and 4.7%, respectively.

The passenger throughput achieved an all-time high for the summer period. Throughout this year's peak season, passenger numbers at Changchun Airport steadily climbed, ushering in a significant travel surge.

The summer travel period spanned 62 days. During this timeframe, Changchun Airport managed 22,000 flights and 3.389 million passengers, averaging 356 daily flights and 55,000 daily passengers. On August 4, the airport handled 423 flights and transported 61,000 passengers in a single day, setting a new daily operational record for the summer season.

The sustained high passenger volumes were supported by ongoing optimization of route capacities. During the summer period, Changchun Airport collaborated with 17 airlines to adjust flight schedules, placing particular emphasis on increasing frequencies on popular routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Yantai, and Chengdu. Additionally, new or increased services to tourism destinations such as Altay, Xining, Lanzhou, and Urumqi were introduced, with a total of 1,320 additional flights operated.

Meanwhile, Yanji Airport in eastern Jilin experienced growth driven by international traffic. During the summer season, the airport added or increased flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan, Tianjin, Qingdao, as well as to Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Yangyang, and Jeju in South Korea. Both its single-day and single-month passenger throughput figures broke historical records. Notably, international passenger volume for August reached 112,000, setting a new monthly high and accounting for 43.8% of total traffic. Passenger numbers to South Korea ranked fourth among all Chinese airports and first in the northeastern region.

To accommodate the summer peaks in tourism, family visits, and student travel, Jilin Airport Group also implemented measures such as dynamically adjusting flight schedules, optimizing passenger procedures, and enhancing ground transportation connectivity. During the summer period, Changchun Airport provided services to over 7,000 unaccompanied children.
