Hong Kong-listed mainland banking stocks saw broad gains on August 31, bucking the overall market trend. Postal Savings Bank Of China Co.,Ltd. (PSBC) jumped nearly 6% following its interim results, while Bank of China advanced almost 5% to hit a fresh record high. Other notable performers included BOC Hong Kong, China Minsheng Bank, China Construction Bank, and Bank of Communications, each climbing more than 2%.
In its mid-year report, PSBC reported operating income of RMB 192.482 billion for the first half of 2024, marking a 7.26% increase year-on-year. Net profit attributable to shareholders of the bank reached RMB 51.503 billion, up 4.62% from the same period last year. The bank also recorded net interest income of RMB 147.147 billion, growing 5.82% annually, while non-interest income surged 12.25% to RMB 45.335 billion.
