A super tanker of undisclosed identity struck two sea mines while attempting to navigate the southern shipping lane of the Strait of Hormuz several hours ago, according to a statement from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as reported by the state television network.
The vessel caught fire and has since halted its movement, the statement added. The Revolutionary Guard reiterated the necessity for all ships to comply with Iran's regulations governing passage through the strait.
