Tongguan Gold (00340) saw its share price climb more than 4% during intraday trading, last up 4.23% at HK$3.575, with turnover reaching HK$59.17 million. The upward momentum comes as investors reacted positively to the company's latest financial results and its upcoming inclusion in a major benchmark index.
The company recently reported its results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, posting revenue of HK$1.575 billion, a 53.1% increase year-on-year. Profit attributable to owners of the company surged 52.5% to HK$523 million, with basic earnings per share at 9.85 HK cents. The revenue growth was primarily driven by higher average selling prices for mineral gold during the period.
In a separate announcement, Tongguan Gold confirmed it has been selected as a constituent of the Hang Seng Composite Index, following the quarterly index review results released by Hang Seng Indexes Company on August 21, 2026. The inclusion will take effect after market close on Friday, September 4, 2026, and will become effective from Monday, September 7, 2026.
The dual catalysts of robust earnings growth and index inclusion are expected to enhance the stock's visibility among institutional investors and potentially attract increased trading volume.
