Coolpad Group Limited (Coolpad) disclosed that its wholly owned subsidiary, Digital Tech Inc., sold 248 covered call options on MicroStrategy Inc. (MSTR) shares on 26 August 2026 (EST). The contracts cover 24,800 MSTR shares—Coolpad’s entire position—and carry a strike price of USD 140.00 per share, 13.65 % above the spot price of USD 123.19 at the trade date.
The options generated aggregate premiums of USD 0.07 million (HKD 0.56 million). Should all contracts be exercised on or before the 11 September 2026 expiration, total proceeds—including strike receipts—would reach USD 3.54 million (HKD 27.65 million).
Based on the historic acquisition cost of USD 2.38 million (HKD 18.59 million) for the underlying shares, Coolpad projects a gain of approximately USD 1.16 million (HKD 9.06 million) if full exercise occurs. Proceeds are earmarked for general working capital.
The transaction was executed in the open market with unidentified counterparties and qualifies as a discloseable transaction under Hong Kong Listing Rule 14.07, with the highest applicable percentage ratio exceeding 5 % but below 25 %. No shareholder approval is required.
Post-transaction, Coolpad holds 24,800 MSTR shares, or around 0.01 % of MicroStrategy’s outstanding shares. Delivery of all shares upon exercise would eliminate the position but is consistent with the group’s medium- to long-term crypto-asset strategy, according to the board.
MicroStrategy reported 2025 revenue of USD 477.23 million and a net loss of USD 3.85 billion, ending the year with audited net assets of USD 44.12 billion.
