BAIC Motor Posts First-Half Net Loss of 1.594 Billion Yuan, Swinging to Red from Prior-Year Profit

BAIC MOTOR (01958) has unveiled its interim results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, revealing a significant swing into the red. The group recorded revenue of 57.726 billion yuan during the period, marking a 29.94% decrease year-over-year, while the loss attributable to owners of the parent company stood at 1.594 billion yuan, a stark contrast to the profit reported in the same period last year. The basic loss per share was 0.2 yuan.

The Beijing brand remains committed to technological advancement, product upgrades, and business model innovation, adhering to its philosophy of "building quality cars for users" while constructing a user-centric enterprise. In the realm of off-road electrification, the brand is pursuing a dual focus on off-road capability and new energy, effectively bringing "electric power" to off-road vehicles. Regarding off-road intelligence, the brand leverages the "Yuanscape" intelligent system from BAIC Group to continuously enhance the intelligent features of its off-road lineup, delivering comprehensive travel solutions that span from urban commuting to rugged terrain excursions.

Building on its legacy as the "inventor of China's off-road vehicles," the Beijing brand is persistently driving brand and product innovation, striving to develop a full spectrum of off-road and light-off-road offerings that cater to the varied demands of different consumer segments. The BJ30 Traveler targets the entry-level light off-road market, while the BJ40 Extended Range aims to establish itself as the premier extended-range hardcore SUV. Meanwhile, the BJ40 Fuel version is positioned as an "all-scenario professional off-road SUV," promoting greater accessibility and inclusivity within the off-road segment.

Currently, Beijing Benz has evolved into a joint venture that, within the Mercedes-Benz global network, uniquely operates three major vehicle platforms covering front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and electric vehicles, alongside factories for both engines and power batteries. It has also achieved exports of core engine components and complete engines, solidifying its role as a vital part of Mercedes-Benz's worldwide production system. Leveraging this foundation, Beijing Benz currently manufactures models including the all-electric GLC, all-electric CLA, E-Class, C-Class, and GLC SUV.

In response to the historic industry-wide shift from fuel-powered to electric vehicles, Beijing Benz is proactively accelerating its transformation towards "electrification, digitalization, and decarbonization." In terms of its electric product lineup, Beijing Benz has already commenced production of seven all-electric models. Looking ahead, it plans to develop additional "new generation luxury" and "core luxury" models based on the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) and the MB.EA pure electric platform.
