In a recent announcement, AKESO (09926) revealed that its board has approved a plan to repurchase up to HK$200 million worth of the company's ordinary shares on the open market.

The share repurchase is set to be executed by the trustee of the company's 2021 Restricted Share Unit Plan.

The board expressed the view that the current trading price of the shares does not accurately reflect the company's intrinsic value and future business prospects, presenting a favorable opportunity for the buyback.

This move demonstrates the confidence of the board and management in the company's business outlook and is intended to benefit the company and create value for shareholders.

The share repurchase will be funded from the company's existing cash resources.

Furthermore, the board was informed that the company's Chairman, Executive Director, President, and CEO, Dr. Xia Yu, along with Executive Directors Dr. Li Baiyong, Dr. Wang Zhongmin, Dr. Zhang Peng, and Chief Financial Officer Dr. Wang Bingzhong (collectively referred to as the "Relevant Directors and Senior Management"), intend to increase their shareholdings in the company through purchases on the open market, with a total amount not exceeding HK$50 million, subject to compliance with listing rules and other applicable laws and regulations.

According to the Relevant Directors and Senior Management, their intention to increase their holdings is based on their confidence in the group's long-term investment value, robust research and development capabilities, and its capacity to drive continuous innovation, and will be funded using their own financial resources.
