Recent reports indicate that the runway works at the Duolun County general airport project have now been fully completed, with the main structures of essential buildings, including the integrated operations building and the control tower, successfully topped out. This marks the project's official transition into its final phase, focusing on supporting facilities and finishing touches. Based on the current construction schedule, the entire project is expected to be fully completed by the end of December.
The new Duolun County general airport is classified as an A1-level general aviation airport. The total budget for the project stands at 56.79 million yuan. It has received official approval from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Transport and is a joint venture funded by the Inner Mongolia Civil Aviation Airport Construction and Investment Group Co., Ltd. and the Duolun County Urban and Rural Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd.
The project involves the construction of a new runway measuring 1,200 meters in length and 23 meters in width, one perpendicular taxiway, and two Class B aircraft parking positions. The integrated operations building will cover a floor area of 909.08 square meters, while the auxiliary living quarters will span 221.54 square meters. Additionally, a comprehensive garage covering 519.72 square meters is included in the plans. The project also encompasses a range of supporting facilities, including fire rescue services, power supply, water supply and drainage systems, and refueling infrastructure.
Once the airport is operational, it will serve a dual purpose. It will be capable of handling short-distance commuter air transport while also supporting a variety of general aviation applications, such as aerial seeding and crop dusting, ecological restoration, emergency rescue operations, and disaster prevention and mitigation efforts. This development is poised to further strengthen the comprehensive transportation network in the southeastern region of the Xilingol League, injecting significant momentum into the growth of the local county-level economy.
The airport's completion is a key step in enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic development through improved aviation infrastructure.
