Authorities reported on Friday that a fresh barrier lake is forming after a landslide occurred downstream of an existing one, prompting the urgent relocation of rescue teams near Gyirong Port in Shigatse City, Tibet.

To support the ongoing rescue and disaster relief efforts following the mudslide in Gyirong County, the Ministry of Emergency Management has deployed reconnaissance and heavy-lift drones from the "Yuyan Emergency" member unit. These drones are continuously monitoring the development of the Purepu Qiangzangbu Barrier Lake, with rolling consultations and assessments being conducted to fully assist and guide local authorities in their rescue operations.

On the evening of August 29th, forward-deployed surveillance drones detected a landslide on the mountain slope 2.8 kilometers downstream of the Purepu Qiangzangbu Barrier Lake. This has created new landslide debris, which is now forming a new barrier lake. In response, the Ministry of Emergency Management swiftly convened experts for analysis and assessment, and rescue personnel near Gyirong Port have been relocated to a safe location.
