This year, the city has launched a major rural power grid renovation initiative covering 89 distribution transformer areas across 51 villages. The project involves upgrading existing 200KVA transformers to 400KVA units, along with comprehensive replacement of overhead lines, cables, and service drop wires. Upon full completion, power supply reliability is expected to reach 99.996%, delivering fewer outages, shorter interruption durations, and stable voltage levels. This transformation will shift rural residents from merely having access to electricity to enjoying high-quality power usage, while also reserving sufficient capacity for clean energy adoption and future electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

As of now, 31 distribution transformer areas across 16 administrative villages have completed their upgrades, with the project steadily advancing toward its annual targets. At the Yongyang Village distribution area in Huilong Township, the newly installed 400KVA transformer stands prominently, with all previously tangled and outdated cables removed and replaced. Fresh lines now run neatly along village roads, extending orderly to each household's front and back yards. Wu Haiping, the project implementation supervisor, stood beside the equipment carefully cross-checking real-time load data against instrument readings, while curious villagers paused to inspect this new "power heart" safeguarding their community's electricity supply.

"After the project kicked off, we first conducted on-site surveys, visiting households to assess the load requirements of each transformer area before finalizing tailored renovation plans based on each village's specific conditions," Wu Haiping explained. During the construction phase, work crews capitalized on favorable weather to perform transformer hoisting, cable installation, and service drop replacements. Before starting work, staff coordinated with village officials and residents to communicate plans clearly. Every completed site underwent multiple rounds of energization testing, ensuring voltage levels and equipment performance met all standards before being officially commissioned. Uncle Zhang, a local villager who witnessed the entire transformation process, commented: "The workers deliberately scheduled construction to avoid evening meal times and nighttime peak usage hours. They really considered our daily needs." He noted that while daily electricity use had always been dependable, occasional voltage fluctuations would occur during summer evenings or typhoon weather when every household ran their air conditioners simultaneously. "Now with the new equipment in service, even running multiple high-power appliances at once keeps everything operating smoothly."

With 31 transformer areas already upgraded through phased efforts, the next steps involve coordinating manpower and materials to systematically complete the remaining sites. "We will vigorously promote low-voltage live-line maintenance work to minimize disruption to villagers' daily lives and production activities," said Zhang Zhijun, deputy general manager of the third subsidiary of State Grid Qidong Power Supply Company. "We're keeping a close eye on the timeline to deliver this public welfare project with precision and thoroughness, solidifying the foundation of rural power grid operations."

Villagers have warmly welcomed the improvements. "Now during summer, when the air conditioner and water pump run simultaneously, the voltage remains rock steady. No more worrying about appliances not having enough power," said Master Zhang, a Yongyang Village resident, noting that the grid renovation has tangibly enhanced household electricity experiences. Fellow villager Ms. Liu added, "Many of our neighbors are now planning to buy new energy vehicles. This upgrade has set aside extra power capacity in advance, so when we want to install charging stations at home later, the infrastructure will already be in place. Life in rural areas just keeps getting better and more promising."
