On August 31, NVIDIA and MediaTek announced a deepening of their long-standing partnership aimed at building next-generation AI infrastructure, edge AI computing solutions, and automotive products. As part of this expanded collaboration, MediaTek will leverage the NVIDIA NVLink Fusion platform to develop customized XPU chips for clients, which will be integrated into NVIDIA's rack-scale systems and AI factories.
In a significant financial move, NVIDIA is also investing $3.5 billion (approximately 23.575 billion RMB based on current exchange rates) through a privately placed convertible bond issued to MediaTek. Beyond this, the two companies will continue their joint efforts on future generations of RTX Spark and DGX Spark computer chips, while also advancing their AI-enabled SDV (software-defined vehicle) platform. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang commented on the strengthened ties, emphasizing the shared vision for the future of AI-driven computing across multiple industries.
