During the peak travel period from July 1 to August 31, Juneyao Airlines Co.,Ltd. operated over 20,000 flights, carrying more than 3.62 million passengers with an average load factor approaching 87%, marking steady growth across multiple operational metrics.
International and regional routes accounted for over 2,666 flights and surpassed 555,000 passengers, while connecting passenger traffic at Pudong Airport surged 46% year-on-year, reflecting sustained momentum in outbound travel demand.
This summer, the airline adopted a strategy centered on precise capacity deployment and continuous network optimization to cater to domestic summer getaway trips and diverse international market needs. Domestically, it refined its route network to offer travelers abundant choices for holiday travel. Internationally, it advanced its dual-engine strategy across Asia-Pacific and intercontinental markets, launching a new nonstop route from Shanghai Pudong to Manila, Philippines, on September 2 with an initial frequency of two weekly flights, increasing to five weekly flights from October 17 to deepen its foothold in Southeast Asia. Additionally, frequencies on intercontinental routes to Athens, Manchester, and Helsinki were raised during the season.
Beyond production expansion and network growth, the airline made significant strides in international transit hub development and digital transformation, with the Pudong International Transit Hub emerging as the standout highlight of the summer season.
Data shows that in July 2026, Pudong Airport handled 8.07 million passengers, up 7.89% year-on-year, with daily flight movements and passenger volumes reaching record highs of 1,869 flights and 293,000 travelers, respectively. Total transit passengers at the Pudong hub exceeded 102,000, a substantial 46% increase compared with the 2025 summer period. The transit mix continued to improve, with domestic-to-international connections accounting for the largest share at approximately 32% and posting the fastest growth rate. The rapid rise in connecting traffic marks a new milestone for the carrier in building its international aviation hub capabilities.
Meanwhile, fully digital check-in services were further enhanced during the summer. Since introducing online check-in and electronic boarding passes for international and regional flights last year, adoption has climbed steadily. During the summer months, more than 85,000 passengers used self-service check-in options, including online and CUSS kiosk services, with average daily usage rising 27% compared with May-June levels. Among them, over 68,000 passengers utilized online check-in, up 30% daily on the same comparison basis. This growth has been driven by the launch of online visa verification for non-visa-exempt countries, a feature set to extend to routes serving Australia and Vietnam. Travelers can now clear customs by scanning their electronic boarding passes, enjoying a seamless end-to-end digital journey from booking to boarding.
In response to the notable increase in elderly passengers, unaccompanied minors, and travelers with special needs during the summer, the airline upgraded its dedicated care services, assisting over 23,000 such passengers, up nearly 7% year-on-year. It also introduced a standalone online application portal for these services on its official website, allowing desktop-based submissions and enabling convenient access across multiple channels to meet varied needs.
The fleet also expanded with the arrival of a new Airbus A321NEO aircraft (registration B-32RT), bringing the total fleet size to over 105 aircraft, comprising 95 Airbus A320-series jets and 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. This provides stronger capacity support for further route network expansion and high-quality operations.
